John Preece
Ngāti Mutunga of Wharekauri Iwi Rep
John descends from both Ngāti Mutunga and Moriori and has been a fisherman and diver for over 30 years, working in all aspects of fishing (inshore and deep sea).
He is based on the Chathams and is very passionate about the future of the islands’ birds, especially seabirds. Planting of native trees to restore the whenua, and also looking after the islands' disease-free bees, is high on his list of priorities.
